Who we are
High on Mountains ([name and address of the controller]) runs this website and the Instagram account @highonmountains_official. Send privacy questions to [email address].
What we show about creators
In the creator guide, on the profile pages, on the map and in the region guides we only show each creator's Instagram username and figures from their public collab posts with @highonmountains_official: the number of collabs, the period, the tagged locations and the mountain ranges. We don't show profile photos, names, bios or captions, and we leave out creators with a private account. On a collab page you can choose to load the post itself from Instagram (see “Instagram posts”). We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in making the collective and the creators' work findable.
Objection and removal
Don't want to be in the creator guide? Choose “Be removed from the creator guide” in the form, or send us a message on Instagram. We'll remove you in the next update of the site.
When you claim your profile
We ask for your username, email address, home country and the ranges you're active in. Based on your consent, we use these details to handle your request and show your profile. If you like, you add a name, a short bio, links to your other platforms and up to three collabs to feature; we show them only with your consent and remove them when you ask. We ask separately for permission to show your photos and videos.
The map
The map only loads map tiles from OpenTopoMap and OpenStreetMap and elevation tiles from Terrain Tiles on Amazon Web Services after you choose to. Your browser then connects to their servers. If you ask us to remember your choice, it is stored only in your browser.
Instagram posts
A collab page can show the post itself, through Instagram's embed. It only loads after you choose to load it. Your browser then connects to Instagram (Meta), which sees your IP address and can set cookies under its own privacy policy. If you ask us to remember your choice, it is stored only in your own browser. The creator stays in control: if they delete the post or turn off embedding on Instagram, it no longer shows here.
Cookies and trackers
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Fonts and scripts are served from our own server.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data, and withdraw your consent at any time. If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
